Generate AI Policy
Policy on the Use of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies
1. Scope and Applicability
This policy governs the use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the preparation of manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Science and Research (JSR). It applies exclusively to the writing process and does not directly regulate the use of AI for data analysis, coding, or research insights—provided that such use is transparently reported and remains subject to verification.
2. Permitted Uses
- Generative AI tools may be used solely to improve readability, grammar, or language clarity.
- These tools must always be used under human supervision, with authors carefully reviewing and editing the AI-generated content.
- Authors retain full responsibility and accountability for the final content of their manuscript.
3. Prohibited Uses
- AI technologies may not be credited as authors or co-authors, as authorship requires intellectual responsibility that only humans can fulfill.
- Authors must not rely on AI to generate content that constitutes the intellectual core of the manuscript, including original arguments or critical analysis.
- Authors must not upload confidential or sensitive data into AI tools if doing so could compromise privacy or intellectual property rights.
4. Disclosure Requirement
Authors must disclose any use of generative AI tools. This must appear as a separate section at the end of the manuscript, before the references.
Section Title:
Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Writing Process
Example Statement:
"During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL] for [REASON]. After using this tool, the author(s) conducted a comprehensive review and made necessary edits, assuming full responsibility for the final version."
- Disclosure is not required for basic tools (spelling/grammar checkers).
- If no AI tools were used, no statement is necessary.
5. Editorial and Peer Review Process
- Reviewers and editors are strictly prohibited from using generative AI in the peer review or editorial decision-making processes.
- JSR may consider adopting AI tools for editorial workflows in the future, but their use remains restricted until further notice.
6. Ethical Standards and Consequences
JSR adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Failure to disclose or misuse of AI tools will be considered a breach of ethics. Consequences include:
- Rejection of the manuscript.
- Retraction or correction post-publication.
- Notification to the author's affiliated institution.
