Generate AI Policy
Policy on the Use of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies
1. Scope and Applicability
This policy governs the use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the preparation of manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Science and Research (JSR), It applies exclusively to the writing process and does not directly regulate the use of AI for data analysis, coding, or research insights—provided that such use is transparently reported and remains subject to verification.
2. Permitted Uses
- Generative AI tools may be used solely to improve readability, grammar, or language clarity.
- These tools must always be used under human supervision, with authors carefully reviewing and editing the AI-generated content.
- Authors retain full responsibility and accountability for the final content of their manuscript.
3. Prohibited Uses
- AI and AI-assisted technologies may not be credited as authors or co-authors, as authorship requires intellectual responsibility that only humans can fulfill.
- Authors must not rely on AI to generate content that constitutes the intellectual core of the manuscript, including original arguments, interpretations, or critical analysis.
- Authors must not upload confidential or sensitive data (e.g., interview transcripts, unpublished manuscripts, legal documents) into AI tools if doing so could compromise privacy, confidentiality, or intellectual property rights.
4. Disclosure Requirement
Authors must disclose any use of generative AI tools during the writing process. This disclosure must appear as a separate section at the end of the manuscript, immediately before the references.
Title of the Section:
Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Writing Process
Example Statement:
During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL/SERVICE] for [REASON]. After using this tool or service, the author(s) conducted a comprehensive review and made the necessary edits to the content, thereby assuming full responsibility for the final version of the manuscript.
- This declaration is not required for the use of basic tools such as spelling/grammar checkers or reference managers.
- If no generative AI tools were used, no statement is necessary.
5. Editorial and Peer Review Process
- Reviewers and editors are strictly prohibited from using generative AI or AI-assisted technologies (e.g., ChatGPT) in the peer review or editorial decision-making processes.
- In the future, Journal of Science and Research (JSR) may consider adopting compliant AI tools to support editorial workflows, but until such a time, their use remains restricted.
6. Ethical Standards and Consequences
- Journal of Science and Research (JSR) adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
- Failure to disclose the use of AI tools, or misuse of such tools in violation of this policy, will be considered a breach of publication ethics.
- Possible consequences include:
- Rejection of the manuscript during the review process;
- Retraction or correction of the article post-publication;
- Notification to the author’s affiliated institution, if deemed necessary.
